“All This Time”

It’s Friday!

So, I’m bird watching today! :o)
I got my inspiration from watching Big Year last night, and when I woke up, I heard the birds chirping outside! Headed off to Dogwood Park now to take more pictures!

After the 29-Day Challenge →

WOW!

I can’t believe that it’s already March!! It really is amazing how fast time flies! Especially during the last 29 days. As you know, I took the Virginia Positive Hits 29-Day Challenge to listen to only Christian music last month. Well, this morning when I was driving Megan to school, she said, “I wonder how much has changed with the music on 102.3 (a mainstream radio station we used to listen to).” So we changed the station and we listened for a little while and I already knew after a few seconds that if that’s the kind of music I filled myself with, then I wasn’t going to have a very good day. I changed the station back to the Christian station, despite all of the static I get due to the station itself being so far away. I think that the positive hits crew really did there job. They gave me a challenge that truly changed me, the way I think, and how I do things. I am so very thankful for listening to 89.9 at just the right moment!

Virginia Positive Hits PER 29-Day Challenge

The Challenge

The Virginia Positive Hits PER (89.9 and 90.5 FM) 29-Day Challenge encourages people to listen to only Christian music for 29 days. This took place from February 1st-29th. How I Heard About the Challenge Where I live, I can only catch two radio stations: a country station and a pop/top 40 station. Occasionally, I can get a Christian radio station in my car. I heard about the Virginia Positive Hits PER 29-Day Challenge from listening to internet radio via a Tune In Radio app. At first, I thought that I would fail at this challenge. How could I survive without listening to all the “cool” songs that my friends were listening to? Signing up for the challenge took a giant leap of faith.
My Journey

The first few days were the hardest. Music is everywhere: on TV, the internet, the car next to me at a red light, on my friends’ iPods. The list goes on and on. The Lord gave me so much strength during these twenty nine days.
Discovering Myself

Everyday there were “mini challenges.” There were easy challenges, such as put others first and pick up trash wherever you see it. Then there were harder ones, like tell a stranger about your relationship with God. Honestly, I did not participate in many of the daily challenges. I let my ego get in the way many times, always worrying about what others would think about me. Then I learned other things about my character. I would see an opportunity to do something that was part of either a past or an upcoming challenge and I would think “but that’s not the challenge of the day, so I don’t have to do it.” I was missing the whole point of the challenge! I should have been incorporating every bit of change into the rest of my life.
The Impact

I have come to realize, after these twenty nine days, that my attitude is greatly influenced by the genres of music I listen to. There are songs about heartache that will make me think about past relationships and cause me to feel sad or angry. Then there are songs that swear more then they say words that are meaningful. And there are songs that put down races and genders. These songs could offend others and I did not think about that until I thought about other people. After listening to only Christian music for a month, I have found that I am a much happier person. I learned that there is nothing “cool” about the music my friends listen to.

I would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for a lifestyle change to try a challenge like this. You don’t even have to be Christian. Just listening to any music that has a positive impact on the way you think, and the things you do and say can change everything.

tumblrbot asked: WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

Australia seems like a pretty nice country to visit.  It’s so beautiful!  As for places in my own country, I’ve always wanted to visit just about any place in Tennessee and see the coast.
